The Wolves of Isle Royale: Rolf O. Peterson, renowned author and wildlife ecologist from Michigan Technological University, will visit from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. For more than 30 years, Peterson has studied the wolves of Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior. He has written about the relationship between the wolf and moose populations on this isolated island. Discover how his studies' results impact you today. Photographs enhance his presentation. Book sales and signing follow the program. Refreshments will be served. Registration is required.

Guitar Hero tournament: Think your mad guitar skills are the best? Try your hand at PlayStation 2's Guitar Hero and see if you can beat the competition. The tournament takes place from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 19 in Community Rooms A and B. Prizes will be awarded to the top players. Spectators are welcome. Registration began Nov. 1 for teens in seventh to 12th grade. For details, call Lisel Ulaszek at (847) 608-5011.

Volunteens: Volunteens are student volunteers in seventh to 10th grade in the library Youth Center. They work one hour per week and do a variety of tasks such as using our laminator and die-cut machines. Sessions fill up quickly, so plan ahead if you need to complete a required number of hours. The next session begins the week of Jan. 14. Students have three time slots to choose from: Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m., Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 to 3 p.m. Register online at www.gailborden.info/teen/volunteen_app.htm or in the Youth Center.
