Community survey: The Bartlett Park District has teamed up with the University of Illinois to provide a community survey, used to collect information on what residents would like to see from the park district in the future.

Two thousand households were selected at random and received the survey around Oct. 12. If selected for input, complete the survey and return it as designated on the list of instructions.

Appear in the winter brochure: Send in favorite photos from a program, park, special event or activity for the chance to appear in the upcoming winter brochure. Digital photos should be of high resolution, and files can be up to 4MB.

E-mail photos to Stephanie FitzSimons at sfitzsimons@bartlettparks.org, send photos burned to disc to Bartlett Park District, 700 S. Bartlett Road, Bartlett, IL 60103, or drop it off at the Bartlett Community Center, 700 S. Bartlett Road.

For hard copies, send duplicate copies to the same address. Do not send original photos. Participants submitting photos authorize the park district to utilize the material for promotional materials including brochures, fliers, Web site or other pieces.

Photos received become the property of the Bartlett Park District and will be used only by the Bartlett Park District for promotional purposes and will not be shared with any other organization without the written consent of the photographer.

Permission is required from photo subjects, and in the case of minors, participants must be the parent, guardian, or have permission from said person to send in the photo.

Card group: A drop-in card group meets from noon to 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the Senior Activity Room of the Bartlett Community Center, 700 S. Bartlett Road. The program is free to all adults.

Games include pinochle, bridge, and others. Coffee, cups, napkins and plates provided. Attendees should bring snacks.

Keeping it clean: Those who enjoy neighborhood parks, ball fields or one of the many trails are asked to take out everything brought in --including water bottles, wrappers and equipment. Trash barrels are located in all areas.

Teen Dance Dance Revolution: The game Dance Dance Revolution has been added to the Bartlett Park District's Teen Dances. Unlike the home versions, the units feature arcade-quality dance pads. Dances are open to fifth through eighth grades, with a maximum of 300 participants.

Attendees can challenge themselves on the new equipment, dance the night away or just hang out with friends. The gym will also be open.

Preregistration is required. No registration will be taken after the registration office closes at 1 p.m. the day of the dance, and no registrations will be taken at the LIFECENTER or Splash Central Desks.

Parents/guardians need to register their own child/children, and a waiver and dance rules contract needs to be signed at the time of registration by the parent/guardian. Admission is $8 per person.

Photo policy: The Bartlett Park District reserves the right to photograph or videotape participants in park district programs, facilities or parks for the district's promotional materials.

Those who wish to share photos can e-mail them to sfitzsimons@bartlettparks.org. The photos may be used in seasonal brochures, promotional fliers/postcards, on the Web site or other marketing avenues.

Special needs recreation: The Bartlett Park District, in cooperation with the Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA), offers year-round leisure opportunities for individuals of all ages with special needs.

Recreation programs are offered in a variety of locations to people with similar abilities and interests. Through NWSRA, the park district is able to offer such programs as cooking, dance, art, sports, swimming, gymnastics, horseback riding, and much more to those with special needs, who require a closer staff-to-participant ratio than is typically offered in a park district program.
