Thornwood's Haunted Trail helped charity

Approved Mortgage Loans Inc. sponsored its sixth annual Thornwood Haunted Trail on Oct. 27.

More than 600 residents had the courage to venture into the woods to experience the terror filled scenes presented by dozens of their neighbors and friends.

While awaiting their guided tours, guests were treated to complimentary hot chocolate, cookies and glow necklaces.

Participants also had the opportunity to donate to the Paige Stibgen Fund. They raised $650 for an 11-year-old girl in the Thornwood subdivision who battled leukemia for over a year. The sixth-grader died Nov. 7 from complications of the disease. Her mother, Joanna, has not been able to work at all this year so every little bit helps. Sponsor Ron Haluczak was concerned that the trail would not go on this year since many of the key players were unavailable and many were off at college.

However, the neighborhood rose to the challenge with new blood and put on one of the best Halloween Haunts ever. Haluczak expressed gratitude to all who gave of their time and talents to make this event such a great success and to all who donated to such a worthy cause.
