Aurora 2-year-old falls to his death
A 2-year-old Aurora boy died this weekend after accidentally falling from the top of a bunk bed, authorities said.
Police were called to a home in the 600 block of North Buell Avenue in west Aurora around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, where Christopher Young had fallen off the bed, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said.
The boy was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital in Park Ridge and pronounced dead early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The fall appears to be accidental, Ferrelli said.
"There's no criminal activity or foul play suspected," he said.
However, he said it's protocol for authorities from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to investigate in such situations.
Young had been in the care of a 27-year-old male family member, Ferrelli said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office is performing an autopsy today.
