Arts club to tour 'green' building
The Fox Valley Beaux Arts Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Harm A. Weber Academic Center on the Judson University campus, 1151 N. State St., Elgin.
A tour of this new and environmentally significant building will be given by architecture professor Keelan Kaiser. Both men and women interested in "Green Architecture" are invited to attend the tour.
After the program, Beaux Arts members and guests are invited to gather at Regina's restaurant on Route 31 in West Dundee for a social hour.
Beaux Arts also is planning a trip Dec. 6-9 to the "One of a Kind Show and Sale" in the Merchandise Mart.

Fox Valley Beaux Arts recently held its annual luncheon and fashion show at the Elgin Country Club. The afternoon began with club members and guests enjoying the raffling of six themed baskets and a silent auction of 100 items. Before lunch, Barb McGee, scholarship chair, introduced Christine Sydney, one of this year's 10 scholarship winners, who performed musical selections on the flute.
The invocation was given by Florence Ostdick, second vice president and luncheon co-chair, followed by a meal enjoyed by more than 115 women. Pianist Murna Hansemann provided music throughout the afternoon.
The delightful fashions of Coldwater Creek were modeled by members and friends of Beaux Arts with commentary by Barb Riebe from Coldwater Creek in Geneva Commons. Among the women admiring the varied styles in the show were Mary Aydt, Loretta Heuer, Susan Carroll-Pepa, Chris Burris, Judy Cheetham, Cheryl Karner, Candice Karner-Breyar, Mary Navin and Jan Jones.
Proceeds from this annual event fund scholarships for artistically talented high school students in the area.
