Administrators' pay is simply too high

I commend the Daily Herald in its study and reporting on our area's school system compensation. The study included 34 schools and a real telling story. For example, I live in Lake Villa District 41, where the average compensation for administrators is more than $100,000 per year, yet the average teacher compensation is only $42,588 (second lowest in the study) and would you believe the superintendent's compensation is $231,395 (second highest in the study).

After analysis of this study, I don't think we have to look too far to see what is causing a continuous crisis in our school funding, and the problem isn't that we are paying teachers too much money. In fact, the study showed that teacher compensation doesn't even comprise 50 percent of the operating budget, and the disparity between the cost ratio of administration and teachers is sickening.

It is no wonder school districts are facing trouble getting referendum requests passed, and after this study, I suggest it will even be tougher.
