Lake Zurich eBay store closing still unsettled

The Lake County state's attorney's office will not be filing criminal charges against owners of the Lake Zurich iSold It on eBay store that closed mid-October leaving roughly 25 customers without their property or money.

Yet, the state's attorney's office is recommending those customers should consider filing civil lawsuits to get their properties back, Lake Zurich police said Friday.

Lake Zurich police investigated customers' complaints to determine if criminal charges were warranted, but have not charged the owners, a Streamwood couple who say they have filed for bankruptcy.

The Lake Zurich store at 712 S. Rand Road was a franchise of an international eBay auction drop-off business that claims to have hundreds of locations in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Police said they are working with the owners, who have hired an attorney, to resolve complaints involving unsold merchandise that could be returned.

Customers who dropped off items at the store and haven't received their money should call Detective Scott Warren with the Lake Zurich Police Department's criminal investigations unit at (847) 719-1690, ext. 125.
