Hypocrite politicians raise bar ever higher
Washington politicians have raised the bar of hypocrisy so high you would think that it could not possibly go any higher.
But after listening to the presidential debates, it is clear the bar will soar even higher by Election Day.
In the recent Democratic debate, most of the candidates ganged up on Hillary Clinton because she avoided giving a "yes" or "no" answer when asked if she supported New York's plan to issue drivers licenses to illegal immigrant.
For almost 20 years, Guiliani, Biden, Huckabee, Romney, Edwards and Thompson said and did little about the problem of border security and illegal immigration.
But now that there are millions in the country illegally, the politicians have all "gotten religion" and are saying no amnesty, no benefits and no licenses.
I have come to the conclusion that John McCain and Hillary Clinton have taken the right position on immigration reform.
After all, the government allowed many of these illegal immigrants to enter the country and then allowed them to live and work, some for almost 20 years.
As long as the Bush administration and Congress refuse to deal with the problem, it would be much better to have them driving legally with insurance than the present system that finds many driving without a license and insurance.
