Native American teaches Des Plaines students about the Sioux way of life

Students squatted on buffalo skins sprawled under a 20-foot-tall teepee, connecting to a time and life distant from their own modern lives.

The Des Plaines students are listening to Jon Jordan's Spirit of the Eagle presentation. Jordan presents a living history of the Western Sioux.

Des Plaines students from Forest and Terrace elementary schools enjoyed the presentation.

They learned about the buffalo and its role in Native American life. They also learned about the important native values, including respect, tradition and generosity from Jordan, a Joliet resident.
