Learn how to decorate your storefront window

The Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin invites individuals, organizations and businesses to learn the ins and outs of decorating storefront windows at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday by watching Elgin resident Gina Lempa embellish a window at the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce, 31 S. Grove, Elgin.

Lempa is currently an independent sales representative that sells ribbons and floral materials in the Chicago area. She also has been in the floral business 28 years and has decorated storefronts through her various retail experiences over the past 10 years. She will have ribbons for purchase at the decorating session. Refreshments will be served.

This decorating session ties into the upcoming "Window Wonderland" event that the Downtown Neighborhood Association will hold in downtown Elgin from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 1. This year's window theme is "Holidays from the Past, Present and Future." The windows will be judged by a panel of judges on Dec. 1 on creativity and appeal. The public can cast their vote for their favorite window at various locations around downtown Elgin through the month of December.
