LaVallee lifts Wolves

MOLINE -- Jordan LaVallee netted his second straight game-winning goal, and goalie Fred Braithwaite allowed just 1 score for the fourth straight game as the Chicago Wolves defeated the Quad City Flames 2-1 at I Wireless Center on Wednesday night.

LaVallee, who shares the team lead with 6 goals, broke a 1-1 tie at the 7:31 mark of the third period with his fourth power-play goal of the year. He redirected a shot from Nathan Oystrick past Flames goalie Curtis McElninney.

The Wolves (8-0-1-0) are off to their best start in franchise history and are one of two teams in the American Hockey League without a regulation loss.

Quad City (2-7-1-2) opened the scoring at the 15:04 mark of the first period on a power play when Carsen Germyn took a pass from Grant Stevenson and beat a screened Brathwaite.

The Wolves evened the game 18 seconds into the second period when Joel Kwiatkowski scored.
