Why should U.S. arm this group?

If things are going so well in Iraq, why does Bush need to arm a terrorist group (PKK) to help him fight insurgents?

The arms given to the PKK are not only being used to fight the insurrection, but are being used to further the PKK's terrorist agenda in Turkey. Turkey threatened to invade Iraq if the U.S. did not stop aiding the PKK, and the U.S. in turn told Turkey not to interfere. Turkey is now siding with Iran. Bush turned an ally into a nemesis who just bombed and invaded northern Iraq to pursue members of the PKK after 12 Turkish soldiers were killed on Oct 21.
