Scientists skeptical on global warming
One of the most pernicious falsehoods that occur in letters to the Fence Post on global warming is that an overwhelming majority of scientists agree that global warming is caused by man and only a handful of climate skeptics disagree.
However, a 2003 survey of 530 international climate scientists from 27 different countries by two German environmental scientists, Dennis Bray and Hans von Storch, tell a different story.
To the question "Are humans causing climate change", 55.8 percent agreed but 14.2 percent were unsure and 30 percent disagreed.
To the question "Can climate models accurately predict future climates", 46.6 percent disagreed, 18.3 percent were uncertain and only 35.1 percent agreed.
The agreement of scientists on these questions is hardly overwhelming and large minorities are either uncertain or disagree on these important questions. Before we charge forward with costly projects and taxes to reduce CO2 emissions that could destroy the U.S. economy, the questions of the skeptics should be answered.
