Naperville police search for men who tried to lure young girl
Naperville police said today they are investigating an incident late last week in which two men attempted to lure a young girl into their car.
The incident occurred Friday afternoon, but police did not release any information until today.
Police said a 9-year-old girl was walking near Fessler Avenue and Rennett Drive, just a few blocks from Owen Elementary School in the Villages of West Glen neighborhood, when a red and blue car - possibly a Chevrolet Lumina - drove up.
The girl told police the driver told her to "come here" and offered her candy. Her brother also reported being offered candy by the same suspect on a previous occasion. The passenger apparently said nothing to the youngsters.
The children reported a partial license plate number of "24541" to police.
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the suspects' arrest. Tipsters may remain anonymous and still receive rewards by calling Naperville Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006.
