Imposing one's belief is wrong

At regular intervals the Daily Herald publishes yet another letter about the abortion issue. By now there are no new arguments pro or con. It is difficult to imagine anyone who is not firm in their conviction. If your religion teaches you that life begins at conception, then you believe that abortion is morally wrong and, therefore should be illegal, because in effect it is murder.

But teachings of many religions consider that life begins only after birth, so abortion does not have the same moral implications and does not constitute murder. We enjoy freedom of religion as written in our Constitution, which guarantees that everyone has the right to their own religion, and that the U.S. government shall not impose a national religion. Does one have the right to impose their religious beliefs on everyone? In effect, the attempt to overturn the Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion, is such an attempt.

Everyone has the right to follow the moral convictions of their religion, but when there is an attempt to impose their religious beliefs on all others, that is morally wrong.
