Aurora woman killed in collision with train; two kids unhurt

Police say a 42-year-old suburban Chicago woman was killed in a collision with a freight train -- though two of her children weren't injured.

Aurora police say the woman's 11-year-old son managed to flee the vehicle before the train struck it Saturday night. Her 2-year-old daughter was strapped in a car seat.

Police identified the woman as Piedad Kinshasa of Aurora. The accident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. and the woman was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later.

Authorities say her Dodge Avenger approached the tracks as a gate come down. She may have tried to put the vehicle into reverse but it somehow ended up in neutral.
