Healthy Cooking Mythbuster: This program is from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Nov. 19 at Olympic Indoor Swim Center, 660 N. Ridge Ave., and features a cutting edge new technology in cookware that promotes healthy cooking without the use of water or oils. You will learn how to eat according to your tastes. Beverages and goodies will be supplied and you will go home with handouts to help guide you toward healthy cooking. Class Code: 3012-9, Age: 16 and over. Fee $10. (847) 577-3025.
Fall Festival Days: Celebrate Thanksgiving break with three days of fun at Olympic Indoor Swim Center, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 19 through 21 at Olympic Indoor Swim Center, 660 N. Ridge Ave. Children in grades 1 - 5 will participate in a variety of fun activities including: swimming, arts and crafts, tie-dye, and sports games. Arming Your Kitchen Cooking Arsenal: Class focusing on the right utensils and cookware will be from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Dec. 7 at Olympic Indoor Swim Center, 660 N. Ridge Ave. Find out which cookware is hazardous to your health and what to look for when buying cooking utensils, pots, and pans. Tips on: knife sharpening and maintenance; how to make your kitchen safer, cleaner, and more organized; how to know what you want and how to get it. Uber Cool Holiday Gingerbread House: Learn great ideas and easy methods from El Chef Michael Niksic to construct your Holiday gingerbread house, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Dec. 7 at Olympic Indoor Swim Center, 660 N. Ridge Ave. Refreshments and holiday goodies will be provided along with prizes and a grand prize -- an Uber Cool Holiday Gingerbread House. Register as an individual or family. Junior Historian Club: The Historical Museum's Junior Historian Club returns for its second year. Designed for boys and girls from third through eighth grade, the Club offers activities created to help members learn more about their community and its heritage.

Open Wood Shop at the Senior Center: The Wood shop features six complete work stations and state-of-the art equipment. Stop by for a free tour any first Monday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at the Arlington Heights Senior Center, 1801 W. Central Road. For details, call (847) 797-5341.
