Electrical fire causes $75,000 in damage

A Saturday morning house fire near Lombard caused about $75,000 in damage.

Lombard fire officials said the fire started about 11:30 a.m. in a utility room of a two-story house at 21W215 Coronet Road, just west of I-355 at Butterfield Road in unincorporated DuPage County.

Acting Battalion Chief Jeff Holst said the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction of some type.

Two people were inside when the fire broke out but escaped safely. No firefighters were injured battling the blaze, Holst added.

Firefighters were on the scene for several hours, but the blaze was extinguished in a short amount of time, Holst said.
