Huntley resident accused of selling meth
McHenry County sheriff's deputies arrested a 51-year-old Huntley man this week after a nearly five-month investigation led to allegations he was a methamphetamine dealer.
Wayne R. Bandelin, 1806 North St., faces two counts of delivery of methamphetamine, three counts of possession of methamphetamine and one count of possession of a controlled substance stemming from claims that surfaced earlier this year.
Bandelin, who is free after posting $4,500 bond, is scheduled to appear in court Friday. If found guilty of all the charges, he could face up to seven years in prison.
Most of the charges stem from two occasions in June when, according to sheriff's police, Bandelin sold small amounts of methamphetamine while in the presence of an undercover officer. Charges also allege sheriff's deputies found small amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine on Bandelin during his arrest Wednesday.
Sheriff's Lt. Donald Carlson said it appears Bandelin was selling methamphetamine to support his own drug habit.
"At this time he doesn't appear to be a big-time dealer," he said. "There's no indication he was manufacturing methamphetamine."
