Conference to discuss association challenges

As more and more community associations are built, owners are finding challenges they did not anticipate or expect. These range from finding their condo association locked into long-term service contracts to missing documents during the turnover process to developer building defects. Condominium, townhouse and homeowner associations have been able to battle back, and more often than not win. This subject will be a topic at a conference on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Holiday Inn in Joliet sponsored by ACTHA.

Shirley Feldman and Angela Falzone of Association Advocates along with John Bickley of Kovitz Shifrin Nesbitt will be the presenters.

In addition, there will be other program topics designed specifically for community association board members. These include "Meetings of an Association," Financial Aspects of an Association," and Community Association Living." There is a trade show open to the general public.

ACTHA -- the Association of Condominium, Townhouse and Homeowners Associations -- is the largest statewide association representing owners and board of directors for condo, townhouse, homeowner and coop associations in Illinois.

Registration is $30 for ACTHA members and $75 for non-members. Registration includes seminars, breakfast, trade show and materials. For more information or to register, visit www.actha.org or call (312) 987-1906.
