Judson women fall in NAIA regional opener

In its first-ever appearance at the NAIA Region VII Tournament, the top-seeded Judson University women's soccer team fell to No. 5 seed Trinity Christian 1-0 Friday in Des Moines, Iowa.

TCC scored quick and early in the 3rd minute of the match and then held off JU for the win. TCC's goal came off a corner kick that sailed into the top of the net.

TCC out-shot JU 8-5, with most of the shots for TCC coming in the first half. JU pushed harder in the second half with four shots but could not find the net. JU did hit the post on a shot in the second half as that is as close as the Eagles came to scoring.

JU's Alice Phoneprasith had 4 saves in the loss.

"This was one of the most physical battles this year I have seen and in awhile," said Judson coach Freddie King, Jr. "Both teams left it on the field and we gave Trinity Christian everything we could."

The loss ends JU's nine-game unbeaten streak. The Eagles are now 11-6-2. The streak was the second best in the history of the program behind a 10-game winning streak in 2006.

JU will now await for the NCCAA regional pairings for next week and most likely will see CCAC opponents Trinity Christian, Trinity International, and Olivet Nazarene again.
