Services to be held Saturday for longtime music teacher
Funeral services for Glenbard North High School teacher Bill Schraft are planned for Saturday.
Schraft, the longtime band director and music department chairman, died Wednesday after suffering a stroke over the weekend. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. in Lombard.
Services for Schraft, 50, will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 545 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. A short wake will be held at 10 a.m. before services start. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst.
His students are planning to honor him with a percussion extravaganza during halftime at Friday night's playoff football game. The game starts at 7 p.m. and halftime should be around 8 to 8:30 p.m. at the school, 990 Kuhn Road, Carol Stream.
The family requests donations be made to the Glenbard North Music Boosters for a memorial fund in Schraft's honor.
