Barrington advances in boys soccer state tourney

Junior midfielder Ryan Mangone scored in the first half, and junior forward Ata Ozbay scored twice in the second half as Barrington pulled away from Collinsville to earn a 3-0 victory in the Class 2A state quarterfinals Friday at North Central College in Naperville.

Francesco Furio and Jack Valentine had assists for the Broncos (23-2), who will face either Hinsdale Central or New Trier in state semifinal play at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Semifinal winners will meet in the championship game at 8 p.m. Saturday.

In Friday's early games, Rockford Boylan beat Lemont 4-2 and Neuqua Valley (23-1-4) edged Champaign Centennial 3-2.

All three of Neuqua Valley's goals came from senior forward Brett Hruby. The first was unassisted; Bryan Gaul assisted on the second and Tanner Fink on the third, which broke a 2-2 tie at 71:23.
