Volunteers needed for finance program
Kenneth Young Center in Elk Grove Village is looking for people to help seniors with money management.
If accepted after reference and background checks are conducted, volunteers are matched one-to-one with elderly clients who might need help like opening and organizing mail, setting up a simple budget, balancing a checkbook, and paying bills.
Money Management is a program run by Kenneth Young Center and co-sponsored by AARP and the Department on Aging. It's a protective service for limited-income seniors who need help managing their finances, and one of the many services provided by KYC to help seniors stay living in their own homes for as long as possible and as independently as possible. Money Management volunteers are carefully selected, trained and provided ongoing support.
A senior client might need this service because of physical or mental disabilities, inability to read and write, anxiety over financial matters or even financial exploitation or abuse.
At this time KYC could use about 20 Money Management volunteers.
