Take advantage of cancer screening

I am a proud breast cancer survivor, a registered nurse, breast center coordinator at Alexian Brothers Hospital and so very proud to be a resident of Illinois, the first state to provide free breast and cervical cancer screenings and treatment to all uninsured women! This is lifesaving! I would not be here today if I had not been screened seven years ago.

Thank you Gov. Blagojevich. It's great to know that we have a governor who is not only fighting for women, but also fighting cancer.

I can't stress enough the importance of early detection. According to the American Cancer Society, when diagnosed early, the survival rate after five years is 98 percent.
