Plenty of issues to deal with today

The comments to follow are not uplifting but convey a sadness about the quarrelsome traits and human failing we all seem to possess.

Some of the issues confronting us today include pro or anti-abortion, arguments for and against the war in Iraq, Iran's quest for nuclear devices, terrorists versus nations that appear to be anti-Islamic, punishment or not for illegal aliens, water rights for various states and adjacent countries, blame for global warming, the shift of population diversity as whites become the minority, dealing with pedophiles both inside and outside of the church, the apparent destructive influence on foreign policy by the Jewish lobby -- all are momentary problems confronting citizens today.

However, be patient. Wait a few centuries as Earth's population becomes a large multiple of the 6-plus billion humans today.

Envision 80 billion people living on planet earth. If this occurs, it's a certainty today's issues will fall by the wayside. The competition for food, potable water and shelter will produce a chaotic environment.

Let's hope clear-thinking governments will control population growth, as do China and India. Nuclear wars, pandemic illnesses, global warming may also affect our future.

However, there will always be zealots whose fanatical devotion to a cause will continue to complicate our quest for a peaceful existence.

In the short summary of human frailties and issues mentioned above, there are a few that can be addressed today with, hopefully, some degree of success.
