Prosecutors seek to revoke Naperville man's bond in child porn case
A Will County judge today extended a hearing to revoke or increase the bond of a Naperville man facing two counts of possession of child pornography.
Jeffrey Wright, 34, of 2309 Mecan Drive, was charged after Naperville police discovered child pornography on his home computer.
Police were sent to Wright's home when the parents of a 9-year-old girl contacted them about an incident at a Wal-Mart store.
According to court documents, the parents claimed Wright pretended to drop an item and then attempted to look up the girl's dress while he bent over to retrieve it. Witnesses at the store gave police Wright's license plate number.
Will County prosecutors are seeking to revoke or increase Wright's bond based on evidence discovered through the investigation.
According to court documents, police recovered a 10-page document from Wright's computer that details his "observations and excitations, with or without physical contact attempts, with approximately 60 girls."
The girls are believed to be between the ages of 2 and 14.
Prosecutors are seeking a higher bond based on the new evidence and the "elevated danger posed to children" by Wright, according to court documents.
Will County state's attorney spokesman Charles Pelkie said investigators are working to determine the basis for Wright's writings and if they reflect actual incidents or fantasy and if there was any abuse.
In the document, Wright references a 12-year-old neighbor girl who said "hi" to him and then writes how her parents might find it odd that he was talking to her. He also makes reference to the girl's father's employer.
In addition, he makes reference to a family get-together involving two of his nieces.
In their motion, prosecutors note the names of the girls referenced, the father's place of employment and the ages of the nieces are consistent with what Wright wrote.
In their motion, prosecutors also note that Wright was investigated in 2006 for strange behavior involving a girl at a grocery store. No charges were filed because of a lack of evidence.
Wright will appear before Judge Robert Lorz at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 21.
