Man's body found in field near Algonquin shopping center
The body of an unidentified man was found Tuesday at the edge of a field near the Fountain Square shopping strip off Route 62 in Algonquin, officials said.
Algonquin police received a report at 2:30 p.m., Deputy Chief Ed Urban said.
"A woman had been walking by the area and noticed something in the grass," Urban said. "She then called us and said it looked suspicious."
The victim is a white man estimated to be in his late 40s. He was wearing a sweat suit at the time he was found.
No foul play is suspected at this time, Urban said. McHenry County Deputy Coroner Curt Bradshaw said the death occurred from a self-inflicted injury.
