Have a voice in next year's Mundelein concert series
As Mundelein's summertime concert series heads into its 11th year, planners have turned to the Internet to ask residents about what they like about the shows -- and what they don't.
A brief survey now on the village's Web site will be used to shape next year's show schedule, Assistant Village Administrator Michael Flynn said.
"What we're looking for is ideas -- what do people want," Flynn said.
With feedback from concert-goers, as well as people who've skipped the shows, Flynn and the series' organizers hope to tweak the lineup in ways that will increase attendance.
Between 50 and 200 people typically attend each show, all of which are free, Flynn said.
"We always think we should do better because we have a good range of music," Flynn said. "Maybe people aren't interested in hearing any country music, and we (should) have all brass bands and symphony orchestras."
The survey, which has been online since September, is at www.mundelein-il.org/survey07.html. So far, more than 20 people have completed it.
The poll asks people about their familiarity with the summer concert series, if they've attended any of the shows and what styles of music should be performed at future concerts.
People have until January to fill out the brief questionnaire. That's when Mundelein's Community Days commission, which oversees the shows and the summertime village festival, will start planning the 2008 series.
The survey results won't be made public, Flynn said.
The outdoor concert series launched in 1997 in open space at the village's commuter train station. In 2001 it moved to Kracklauer Park, which is on Seymour Avenue at Courtland Street.
Seven shows comprised the 2007 concert schedule, including Jazz Spectrum, Johnny Devin & New Country, Retro Rockets and the Lake Shore Symphony.
