Daily Herald receives media appreciation award
The Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists gave the Daily Herald its first-ever Media Appreciation Award at its annual benefit Sunday in Itasca.
In announcing the honor, Executive Director Charlene Chapman said the media company "has a long history of excellent reporting on impaired driving" with special series, consistent coverage of local drunken driving cases, victim, offender and solutions stories.
Chapman said the award was created to honor and encourage further attention to impaired driving, solutions and saving lives by media.
"It is with great pride that AAIM acknowledges the significance of the work of the Daily Herald and their contribution to making Illinois a safer state," she said.
