Wolves suffer first loss in overtime

The Chicago Wolves and Milwaukee Admirals played more than an hour of scoreless hockey before Admirals center Matt Ellison scored in overtime to hand the Wolves their first loss of the season 1-0 at the Bradley Center on Saturday night.

Wolves goalie Fred Brathwaite registered saves on the first 23 shots he faced, but was victimized by Ellison in overtime when the Milwaukee forward grabbed a pass from linemate Jason Guerriero and dumped home his fourth goal of the season 2:49 into the extra session.

Brathwaite (4-1-0) thwarted Admirals left wing Andreas Thuresson on a penalty shot attempt midway through the third period to keep the contest scoreless, but Chicago could not best Admirals goaltender Pekka Rinne (5-2-0), who posted 28 saves in the shutout performance.

The Wolves (6-0-1-0) have still earned a point in all seven of their outings this year, which is the best start to a season in franchise history. Saturday's overtime loss marked just the 10th time in 14 seasons of play that the Wolves have lost 1-0.

Milwaukee (6-1-1-0) and the Wolves, which both had four power-play chances, are tied for first place in the West Division.
