Don't mix leaves with regular trash -- state law says landfills can't be used for leaves and other yard waste.
The city won't pick up leaves in plastic bags. Also, leaf burning isn't allowed in Elgin.
Finally, if you want to recycle leaves by turning them into mulch, you can buy special bins for this at city hall. They cost $30 each.
