Hanover Park man indicted on 65 sexual abuse charges
A Hanover Park man accused of sexually and physically abusing two young girls over a five-year period was indicted Friday on 65 felony charges.
Egan Barranca, 36, of the 1700 block of Evergreen Ave., is charged with 32 counts of criminal sexual abuse, 18 counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, 12 counts of criminal sexual assault and three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, officials said.
He is accused abusing two girls, now 14 and 10 years old, between 2000 and 2005. Authorities say the abuse included forcing one of the girls to view pornographic videos and perform sex acts.
Barranca was arrested Oct. 1 by Hanover Park police after the victims' mother reported hearing the older girl telling a friend of the abuse, officials have said.
Prosecutors say Barranca threatened to hurt the children's mother if the elder girl did not take back what she had said.
Barranca's bond is set at $1 million. He was being held at the Cook County jail on Friday.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 15.
