Dundee-Crown's 'Good' examines moral questions

Dundee-Crown High School students will present its fall play, "Good," by British playwright C.P. Taylor, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the school auditorium, 1 Charger Country, Carpentersville. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Originally produced by the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in 1981, the play is about a literature professor named John Halder in 1930s-era Germany, who joins the National Socialist Party and gets drawn into the nightmare of the Third Reich.

Watch Halder rationalize his adultery while he argues for euthanasia and observes the killing of the Jews. How can a "good" man stand by while his best friend is shipped off to a concentration camp?

"Good" contains some strong language and themes. A movie, based on the play and starring Viggo Mortensen, is slated to be released in 2008. For details, call the school at (847) 426-1415.
