New Kubrick collection features remastered films

Stanley Kubrick had a long and distinguished career in films and is responsible for directing some of the greatest and most memorable motion pictures of all time. He demanded perfection and would do many takes until he got the scene to his satisfaction.

Kubrick began his career as a photographer, eventually getting hired at Look magazine. His first three projects were documentaries, followed by a couple of film noir thrillers.

Each of the films in this new collection have been remastered and are presented in widescreen.

"Stanley Kubrick: Director's Series Collection" (Warner, 10 discs, $79.92)

The films include: "2001: A Space Odyssey Special Edition," "A Clockwork Orange Special Edition," "Full Metal Jacket Deluxe Edition," "Eyes Wide Shut Special Edition," "The Shining Special Edition," "Barry Lyndon," "Lolita" and "Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures."

Collection

"Burt Lancaster Signature Collection" (Warner, five discs, $49.98)

Burt Lancaster was one of our greatest actors, and he could star in a wide variety of roles. His latest collection features him in adventures, dramas, a comedy and a thriller.

The five films in the collection are: "Jim Thorpe All-American," "The Flame and the Arrow," "His Majesty O'Keefe," "South Sea Woman" and "Executive Action."

TV series

If you are looking to start your holiday shopping early, "I Love Lucy: The Complete Series" is a great gift to give. "I Love Lucy" is one of the classic shows in television history. The comedy starred Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance and William Frawley in situations that viewers could relate to -- or laugh at. There was terrific chemistry with the cast, along with physical comedy and Latin music. It was the most-watched show for many years, as Lucy and Desi lived their lives in front of the camera.
