Briefs: Akorn moving from Decatur to Gurnee

GURNEE -- Akorn, Inc. on Thursday said it has a ten-year operating lease for a newly constructed product development facility in Gurnee. The site will consolidate development efforts that are presently managed in Decatur and New Jersey. It will be used for the development of the Buffalo Grove-based firm's pipeline of regulatory filings for prescription drug products. Akorn manufactures and markets sterile specialty pharmaceuticals.

Walgreen opens fourth Hawaii site

DEERFIELD -- Walgreen Co. said Thursday it expects to open a store in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, sometime next year. This will be Walgreen's first drugstore in the state outside of Oahu. Multi-language prescription labels will be offered to Walgreen pharmacy customers to read their medication directions in any of 14 languages.
