Giroux's late goal helps keep Wolves undefeated

Alexandre Giroux scored his first goal as a member of the Chicago Wolves at the perfect time.

With the Wolves trailing 3-2, Giroux scored with 27.9 seconds left in regulation, and the Wolves went on to a 4-3 shootout victory over San Antonio at the Rosemont Horizon.

Wolves forwards Jesse Schultz, Tomas Pospisil and Jason Krog all found the back of the net in the shootout, while goalie Fred Brathwaite stopped four of the six San Antonio shooters he faced.

Giroux posted a season-high 3 points (goals, 2 assists) for the Wolves (5-0), who are off to their best start in franchise history. The squad has earned a point in 17 straight games against San Antonio on home ice, which includes 9 straight wins.

"We have to start initiating some of the action and stop waiting for the other team to dictate things," said Giroux. "It's a great feeling to score my first goal for this team in such a big win. Sometimes when you come to a new team you find yourself pressing a bit more to make that impact."

Brathwaite (3-0-0-0) recorded 24 saves in the win.
