Support local effort to bring troops home

Fox Valley Citizens for Peace & Justice spoke before the Elgin City Council on Oct. 10, asking it to pass a resolution calling for all U.S. troops to be brought home from Iraq.

With 3,832 troops dead and the cost of the war at $456 billion and growing by $200 million each day, it is time for Elgin to join the 265-plus cities across the nation that have passed such resolutions.

Poll after poll shows that the majority of Americans want the troops to come home. But the administration, the Congress or even the major presidential candidates are making a clear commitment to bring the troops home.

Therefore, we appeal to the most local level of government to pass a resolution sending a clear message. If it passes, we will send copies to all our elected officials and all candidates for national office. Please support us in this endeavor.
