Governor correct on required silence
Thank you for your Oct. 12 editorial, "'Silence' law is simply unnecessary." This editorial contained the truth that Gov. Blagojevich recognized, but which the legislature was unable or unwilling to see. The law is a thinly veiled move toward an unconstitutional requirement of prayer in public schools.
As long as there are examinations, there will be prayer in school. We don't have to require it. We do need to protect our constitutional right to freedom of religion.
I appreciated the governor's wisdom in vetoing the legislation. I am disgusted that the legislature overrode his veto.
