Rolling Meadows student diagnosed with antibiotic-resistant staph
A student in a Rolling Meadows school has been diagnosed with MRSA, the antibiotic-resistant staph infection.
The student is at John G. Conyers Learning Academy, a school in Palatine Elementary District 15.
According to parent Ronda Bischoff, a letter was sent home this week stating that one child had the "superbug" and will not return to school.

On Oct. 22, the building was extensively cleaned with chemicals by specially-trained workers, the letter said.
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, is a strain of bacteria that can be found in the nasal passages, skin, or bodily secretions but does not necessarily produce the disease.
Students in Naperville have also been diagnosed this week.
Holy Angels Catholic School in Aurora is closed today after being notified Wednesday of a confirmed case of MRSA at the school.
