Those fighting the war see it as wrong
"…the U.S. mission in Iraq is a nightmare with no end in sight (my italics) because of political misjudgments after the fall of Saddam Hussein. The deployment of 30,000 additional forces is a desperate attempt to make up for years of misguided policies in Iraq. There is no question that America is living a nightmare with no end in sight."
Who dared utter such vile, treasonous dross! MoveOn.org? The lunatic left? Unpatriotic democrats? No, retired Gen. Ricardo Sanchez is the source of these comments. General Sanchez was Gen. Petraeus' predecessor from 2003-2004. He joins a growing list of retired generals opposing U.S. involvement in Iraq. This includes Major Gen. Paul Eaton, Lt. Gen. William Odom, Marine four-star Gen. Anthony Zinni, Gen. Greg Newbold and Lt. Gen. Bernard Trainer.
It is time for right wing radicals to realize that 70 percent of the American people want an end to U.S. involvement in Iraq. They are the ones out of the mainstream when it comes to the Iraq War.
I applaud Gen. Sanchez for his forthright comments. I do, however, wish he would have had the courage to speak out when doing so may have made a difference.
