Moore grabs 3-shot lead with 63

Ryan Moore matched his career best with a 7-under 63 on Friday to take a 3-stroke lead halfway through the Fry's Electronics Open in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Moore, the bearded 24-year-old former U.S. Amateur champion who has three second-place finishes in his three years on the tour, was at 11-under 129 on the Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor Course.

Australian Mark Hensby shot a career-best 61 to join Ben Crane (66) and Daisuke Maruyama (65) at 8 under.

The event's biggest name, Phil Mickelson, shot a 70 to miss the cut by a stroke.

Hana Bank KOLON Championship: Norway's Suzann Pettersen birdied the final two holes in windy and cool conditions or a 3-under 69 and a share of the first-round lead in the LPGA Tour's Hana Bank KOLON Championship in Gyeongju, South Korea.

Seeking her fourth LPGA Tour victory and fifth overall title of the year, Pettersen had 5 birdies in a bogey-free back nine after making the turn in 2 over on the soggy Mauna Ocean course. South Korea's Meena Lee also shot a 69 on the overcast day with temperatures in the 50s and the shifting wind gusting to 20 mph.

Scotland's Catriona Matthew was 2 strokes back at 71 along with South Koreans Jeong Jang, Hyun-Hee Moon and Joo Mi Kim. Top-ranked Lorena Ochoa topped a group at 72 that included South Korean stars Se Ri Pak and Seon Hwa Lee.

AT&T Championship: Champions Tour rookie Mark O'Meara made a successful return to the site of one of his PGA Tour victories, shooting an 8-under 63 to take the first-round lead in the AT&T Championship in San Antonio.

O'Meara had an eagle, 8 birdies and 2 bogeys at Oak Hills Country Club, the A.W. Tillinghast-designed course where he closed with a 63 to win the 1990 Texas Open.

John Cook, making his second Champions Tour start, and Wayne Levi were 2 strokes back after bogey-free 65s. Defending champion Fred Funk, Tom Kite, Tom Purtzer and 2003 champion Craig Stadler opened with 66s.

Portugal Masters: Argentina's Daniel Vancsik followed his opening 11-under 61 with a 66 to take a 2-stroke lead in the Portugal Masters in Vilamoura, Portugal.

Vancsik had a 14-under 130 total. Martin Erlandsson (68), Ross Fisher (64), Alvaro Quiros (66) and Steve Webster (66) were tied for second.
