Crash victim's father charged
The father of a 3-year-old boy killed in a car crash last weekend has been charged in his death, ABC 7 Chicago reported on its Web site Friday.
Miguel Saavedra, 24 faces a charge of homicide by neglectful operation of a vehicle. Police say the SUV he was driving was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into a van and flipped over Saturday in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.
Saavedra's son Michael was in a child safety seat that was not secured and was thrown from the vehicle. Prosecutors say the child's 5-year-old brother was also not properly secured and was injured in the crash.
Saavedra recently moved from Waukegan to Bristol, Wis. He is being held on $250,000 bond.
