Outlook: Notre Dame, with losses only to Carmel and Joliet Catholic in the Dons' best season since going 7-4 in 1998, looks to improve its playoff seed. Out of a shotgun set quarterback Zach Abraham slings the ball to receiver Ryan Erwin and back Greg Lucchesi, who is the fifth-leading scorer in the ESCC. "They like the big-play strike," said coach Gary Goforth, who pointed to the importance of running the ball, getting a pass rush and solid secondary play by Mike Vanchieri and Emmett Carrier. Last week a 50-yard Jimmy Riley touchdown run got called back by penalty, then Marian Catholic scored 3 touchdowns in the last 5:45 of the first half. Redwings kicker Kevin Kron's first-half field goal, his fifth, avoided the shutout.
