Marian Central @ St. Francis

Marian Central (6-2, 4-2) at St. Francis (3-5, 4-2)

Suburban Catholic Conference

Game time: 1 p.m., Saturday.

Last year: Marian Central 28, St. Francis 14.

Last week: Driscoll 21, Marian Central 7; St. Francis 36, Immaculate Conception 26.

Outlook: Having been outscored 54-7 in consecutive losses to Montini and Driscoll, Marian Central aims to regain swagger before the playoffs. Quarterback Jon Budmayr, in his second start after a hamstring injury, has kinks to work out after going 14 of 27 with 2 interceptions against Driscoll. Marian remains tough up front, St. Francis' main hurdle to a strong finish in coach Greg Purnell's first season in Wheaton. Mark Kachmer repeatedly found room off guards Danny Sufranski and Nate Olver to run for 175 yards and 5 touchdowns against IC. Dave Palash, who before 2007 hadn't played football since fifth grade, got St. Francis' first interception of the year.
