Two from Troop 161 earn Eagle rank
Boy Scout Troop 161 of Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Arlington Heights recently held a Court of Honor to recognize Eagle Scouts Nicholas L. Doyle and Nicholas M. Lydiksen.
Nick Doyle worked closely with the USO, local businesses, dentists, doctors, family members, neighbors and parishioners from Our Lady of the Wayside Church to collect health and comfort items for the soldiers serving our country.
Many scouts from Boy Scout Troop 161 volunteered hours to sort, count and box the donations. More than 3,100 items were sent oversees to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Nick Lydiksen collected over 2,800 items with the help of fellow scouts from Troop 161, friends, neighbors and members of Our Lady of the Wayside Church. Volunteers sorted, counted, boxed and transported these items to the Home of the Sparrow. This is a nonprofit organization that provides transitional services to homeless women and their children in Northern Illinois.
Both of these young men are graduates of Our Lady of the Wayside School and Juniors at Rolling Meadows High School.
