Picnic to raise funds for Huntley girl with brain tumor
There will be a "Picnic For a Princess" in Barrington this weekend.
In May, Teagan Haniszewski, 2, of Huntley was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.
Her parents, South Barrington police officer Bryant Haniszewski and his wife, Carley, have been at Children's Memorial Hospital, by Teagan's side, since that day over the summer.
As a way to help offset the mounting medical bills, "Friends of Teagan" is holding a picnic Saturday outside the Jewel in downtown Barrington, 150 E. Main St.
The picnic, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include grilled brats, hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, chips, pop and water.
There also will be children's games, as well as princess tiaras for sale.
One hundred percent of the donations raised Saturday will be given directly to the Haniszewskis and donations are being accepted at any Harris Bank.
There also will be a fundraiser from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Place Sports Bar & Grill. A $25 donation will include appetizers, tap beers, wine and prizes.

Generous support: The recent Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital's 2007 Signature Gala was a huge success, organizers said.
This year, more than $400,000 was raised during the event, held at the Westin North Shore in Wheeling.
Donations this year were specifically raised for the Barrington hospital's Center for Cancer Care.
More than 460 people attended this year's James Bond-themed event.
Last year, organizers said the event raised about $250,000 for the hospital's new emergency department.
Some of this year's larger donors were "Diamond sponsors" Sage Products, The Francis J. and Patricia A. Houlihan Foundation, Radiation Oncology Consultants, and "Platinum sponsor" Harris Bank-Barrington.
