N. Aurora flushing hydrants
The North Aurora Fire Department will flush hydrants Oct. 22-26 east of the Fox River and all areas between Randall and Orchard roads and Oct. 29-Nov. 2 for all areas west of the river and east of Randall Road and all areas west of Orchard.
Annual harvest party
Tri-City Salvation Army's annual Family Fun Harvest Party is planned for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1710 S. Seventh Ave, St. Charles. The free event includes games, prizes, food and treats. For more information, call (630) 377-2769.
More police will be out
Extra St. Charles police will be on patrol targeting drunk drivers during a two-week campaign starting Sunday. The effort is part of the "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose" program, with a secondary emphasis on seat belt law violators and speeders. It is in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Walk raises $5.8 million:
More than 35,000 walkers filled five Chicago-area walk sites last Sunday to participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Illinois' 29th annual Ron Santo Walk to Cure Diabetes. This year's event has raised more than $5.8 million for diabetes research. The Illinois chapter is the largest fundraising chapter in the country, donating more than $15 million annually to diabetes research.
