Arlington Hts. teen achieves 36 on ACT
Loyola Academy senior Charles P. Harig of Arlington Heights has scored a 36, the highest possible composite score, on the ACT. Harig is one of 13 students in Illinois and one of 85 students in the nation, out of a total of 446,000 who were tested in April on that ACT national test date, to earn this achievement.
Harig is a member of Loyola's Dumbach Scholars Honors Program and a wide receiver for the Ramblers' varsity football team. He is a member of Insignis, an in-school service organization that helps out with the school's major events.
Over the summer, Harig participated in Loyola's Summer Service program, traveling to Harlan, Ky., to help build houses for low-income residents with Christian Outreach to the Appalachian People. He also served as a teacher's aide during the past two summers for Holy Family Lutheran Grade School in Chicago.
Harig hopes to attend the University of Notre Dame and is considering a career in electronic engineering.
