Water main break closes Grayslake school

St. Gilbert School Catholic School in Grayslake is closed today after water service was disrupted by a water main break Wednesday afternoon.

The break has been repaired and water service restored. The school will reopen Friday, officials said.

Grayslake Assistant Village Manager Matt Formica said a contractor was installing fiber optic lines at 300 E. Belvidere Road when a drilling machine hit the water main across the street from the school.

Formica said repairs took place until water service was restored at 1 a.m.

"Everything was up and running this morning," he said. "The school closed because they weren't sure if the pipe would be fixed and usually some brown water comes through the pipes after a break like this."ˆÅ¥
